Voting Rights - LA

We鈥檝e filed an amicus brief, along with The Sentencing Project and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, in a lawsuit challenging Louisiana鈥檚 felony disenfranchisement policy.听 Our friend-of-the-court brief demonstrates how Louisiana鈥檚 felony disenfranchisement laws are rooted in racial discrimination.

We also worked successfully to pass legislation in 2018 to restore voting rights to thousands of Louisiana residents who have been on probation or parole for five years or more.

In 2020 and beyond, we will continue to advocate for the voting rights of people with convictions and to strengthen election protection programs across the state.

Louisiana Voter Guide

Through our Louisiana鈥檚 Got Now | Decidimos campaign, we are uniting voters from Louisiana in a powerful movement to show that together, we can forge the change we wish to see in our communities.
